Chronic gut inflammation in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is characterized by persistent immune system problems; however, the exact causes remain unclear. Recent studies suggest a virus-like inflammatory response in some IBD patients. The researcher will investigate how these responses lead to chronic inflammation and work to develop new treatments for these patients.
