Projects: Auditory hallucinations are not limited to psychiatric disease, but can also have other underlying causes and can even occur in healthy individuals. In my project, I am using functional MRI to investigate the mechanisms of hallucinations in patients with hearing loss and try to differentiate this from tinnitus. Besides this, I also study brain activity in healthy voice hearers to understand the mechanisms leading to the perception of voices in this group and how it differs from auditory verbal hallucinations in schizophrenia patients.
