3D Nanoscale Imaging (3DNI)
To design new drugs, to understand how cancer cells respond to chemotherapy, or to create even more powerful computer chips, we need to be able to see what is happening on the smallest scale. The 3DNI program is working on technology that can produce super-fast 3D images of atoms, molecules and cells. For this the researchers are developing new microscopy techniques based on light and/or electrons. Combining these with modern computer algorithms and artificial intelligence makes it possible to see details that are smaller than the wavelength of the microscopy beam used.
