Deciphering different types of brain cells
On 7 February, researcher Emma Gerrits will defend her PhD research before a committee of scientists. The conclusion of four years of research into different types of brain cells and their role in neurological disorders. Emma studied brain tissue from people with MS and discovered a new cell from the microglia family. This new microglia cell becomes active when myelin damage occurs and may contribute to myelin repair .
