dr. Rob Bakels medical curriculum Teacher of the Year 2018/2019

Within the Department of Biomedical Sciences of Cells and Systems (BSCS) education of future generations of medical doctors is one of our main tasks. Every year the board of the Medical Student Association Panacea nominates five teachers as Teacher of the Year of the medical curriculum, after which all medical students can vote on their teacher of choice. During the award ceremony, all five nominees were invited to give a presentation on a subject chosen by Panacea. This year’s theme was the Middle Ages. After a fierce battle between the nominees, it turned out that dr. Rob Bakels had been chosen as Teacher of the Year 2018/2019 of the medical curriculum. That Rob is not a one day fly is reflected by the fact he has won this title two times before. Within the department, this price has been won also by dr. Jaap Muntinga and dr. Janniko Georgiadis who later won the title Teacher of the Year of the UMCG.
