CureQ: Predict, delay and cure brain diseases caused by polyglutamine(Q)

There are more than ten hereditary brain diseases that are all caused by the same type of DNA error, including Huntington’s disease. The first promising trials have recently started, but there are still many open and urgent questions. When is the best time to start therapy? Can the onset of the disease be predicted, and do gene carriers want to know? Is an alternative treatment also possible without an epidural or brain surgery? And what does this mean for very young patients? Researchers, physicians, ethicists, biotech companies and patient associations will jointly answer these questions, with the aim of enabling a person-centred approach and treatment.
